- 1 tablespoon butter (for sautéing apples)
- For the caramel glaze:
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a skillet, sauté the diced apples with brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of butter until soft and caramelized. Set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the sautéed apples.
- Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it. Pour batter into the waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp.
- For the glaze, melt brown sugar and butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in heavy cream and a pinch of salt. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
- Stack waffles and generously drizzle with warm caramel glaze. Serve immediately.

- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for the best contrast in flavor.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep waffles light and fluffy.
