Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Shape into 1.5-inch meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15–20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. In an oven-safe skillet, pour marinara sauce and gently nestle in the baked meatballs.
  6. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top.
  7. Bake in the oven for another 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot with pasta, bread, or hoagie rolls.

Notes

  • Mix beef and pork for extra flavor and tenderness.
  • Use fresh breadcrumbs or panko for a lighter texture.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate meatballs or freeze for later use.
