Cake:

- 8–10 maraschino cherries, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare pans: Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Beat eggs and sugar: In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and creamy.
- Add butter and almond extract: Mix in softened butter and almond extract.
- Incorporate dry ingredients: Gradually add dry ingredients to the mix.
- Blend in sour cream: Stir in sour cream until smooth.
- Bake: Divide batter between pans and bake for 23-25 minutes. Cool before frosting.
- Make frosting: Cream butter, then add sugar, cream, cherries, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Assemble cake: Layer cake with frosting, chill, then frost the entire cake.
Notes
- For a more intense almond flavor, add a touch of almond extract to the frosting.
