Description

This Chicken Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich stacks juicy, seasoned chicken strips with sautéed bell peppers and onions, all smothered in melted provolone inside a perfectly toasted hoagie roll. It’s a lighter take on a classic comfort favorite—hearty, cheesy, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For Chicken:

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless chicken breast, sliced thin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For Sandwich:

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • Optional: mayonnaise or garlic aioli

Instructions

  1. Season Chicken: Toss chicken strips with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet, cook chicken until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
  3. Sauté Veggies: In the same skillet, sauté onion and bell peppers until softened and caramelized.
  4. Combine: Return chicken to skillet, mix with veggies.
  5. Assemble Sandwiches: Preheat oven, place rolls on a baking sheet. Divide chicken-veggie mix among rolls, top with provolone. Bake until cheese melts.
  6. Serve: Optionally spread mayonnaise or garlic aioli inside rolls before serving.
