Dry Ingredients:
- 1 cup (100g) almond flour
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional:
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate, melted
- 1/4 cup chopped roasted nuts (optional, for texture)
- Edible gold leaf (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a rectangular bar or financier mold.
- Melt Butter: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until golden brown and nutty (beurre noisette). Set aside to cool slightly.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together almond flour, all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
- Whisk Egg Whites: Lightly whisk the egg whites just until foamy.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the egg whites and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix gently. Gradually stir in the browned butter until the batter is smooth.
- Fill Molds and Bake: Spoon the batter into the prepared molds, filling them about 3/4 full. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges and set in the center.
- Cool and Dip: Allow the financiers to cool completely on a wire rack. Dip each bar halfway into the melted chocolate and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
- Decorate: Decorate with small flakes of edible gold leaf for an elegant finish.
- Serve: Let the chocolate set before serving.
