Description

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs (about 24 Oreos, filling removed)
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt

For the Filling:

  • 24 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest (about 2 oranges)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 teaspoons orange extract
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

For the Ganache:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon orange extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Prepare and bake crust. Mix crust ingredients, press into pan, and bake for 10 minutes. Let cool.
  2. Mix filling: Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, then sour cream, vanilla, orange zest, orange juice, melted chocolate, and cocoa powder.
  3. Swirl batters, pour into crust, use water bath. Wrap pan in foil, place in roasting pan, fill with hot water halfway up the sides of the springform pan.
  4. Bake 60–70 minutes. Cool in oven 1 hour. Turn off oven, crack door open, and let cheesecake cool inside for an hour.
  5. Chill 6 hours or overnight. Cover and refrigerate until set.
  6. Make ganache, pour over chilled cheesecake. Heat cream until steaming, pour over chocolate, stir until smooth. Add orange extract and zest, pour over cheesecake.
  7. Garnish and serve chilled. Decorate with whipped cream, candied orange peel, chocolate shavings, and extra orange zest.
