Description

A classic full English breakfast featuring golden sausages, crispy bacon, sautéed mushrooms and blistered cherry tomatoes, perfectly cooked sunny-side egg, and a combination of toasted and fried bread. This hearty British breakfast is prepared gently to preserve vibrant colors and textures, served hot and beautifully plated for a traditional start to the day.

Ingredients

Scale

Meats

  • 3 pork sausages
  • 2 bacon rashers

Egg

  • 1 large egg

Breads

  • 1 slice bread (for toast)
  • 1 slice thick-cut bread (for frying)

Vegetables

  • 4–5 button mushrooms, halved
  • 5–6 cherry tomatoes on the vine

Oils and Fats

  • Butter, as needed
  • Olive oil or neutral cooking oil

Seasonings

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausages: Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Add sausages and cook, turning regularly, for 12–15 minutes until golden-brown and glossy. Remove and keep warm.
  2. Fry the Bacon: In the same pan, cook bacon rashers over medium heat. Fry until crispy but still slightly tender, about 3–4 minutes per side. Set aside.
  3. Sauté Mushrooms & Tomatoes: Add a small knob of butter to the pan. Sauté mushrooms for 4–5 minutes until golden and tender. Add cherry tomatoes and cook just until blistered but still juicy. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the Egg: Heat a small pan with a little oil over low–medium heat. Crack in the egg and cook gently until whites are set and yolk remains round and sunny. Season lightly.
  5. Toast & Fry the Bread: Toast one slice of bread until deep golden. Butter while hot. Fry the thick-cut bread in butter until crisp and golden on both sides. Cut fried bread into triangles.
  6. Plating: Center sausages neatly on the plate. Arrange bacon beside them with clean folds. Place egg prominently with yolk intact. Add buttered toast and fried bread triangles. Tuck mushrooms and tomatoes into open spaces. Keep the plate clean, symmetrical, and crumb-free.

Notes

  • Cook everything gently to preserve color and texture.
  • Avoid over-seasoning—this is a clean, classic breakfast.
  • Serve immediately while hot and vibrant.
