Description

Juicy shrimp sautéed in a bold, zesty cowboy butter sauce made with garlic, herbs, lemon, and a kick of spice—perfect for dipping, grilling, or serving over rice or pasta.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 tsp dried)
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley, plus more for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil.
  2. Season shrimp with salt and pepper, then sear for 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt butter.
  4. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lemon zest, red pepper flakes, paprika, thyme, rosemary, and parsley. Cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring often.
  6. Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the cowboy butter. Cook another 1–2 minutes until shrimp are fully infused with flavor.
  7. Garnish with extra parsley and serve with a small bowl of cowboy butter for dipping.

Notes

  • Use fresh herbs for maximum flavor impact.
  • Adjust spice level by increasing or reducing red pepper flakes.
  • Serve with crusty bread, over pasta, or rice to soak up the extra sauce.
  • Make extra cowboy butter and refrigerate for future use—it pairs well with steak or vegetables.
