Description

Charming tea sandwiches filled with a creamy blend of mandarin oranges, brown sugar, pecans, and cream cheese between slices of soft cinnamon swirl bread—ideal for brunch, picnics, or afternoon tea.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 loaf cinnamon swirl bread (crusts removed)
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 15 mandarin orange segments (canned, drained and chopped)
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, brown sugar, and chopped mandarin orange segments. Mix until well blended.
  2. Fold in chopped pecans for texture and added flavor.
  3. Lay out slices of cinnamon swirl bread and spread a generous amount of the filling onto half of the slices.
  4. Top with the remaining slices to form sandwiches.
  5. Trim crusts if desired and cut each sandwich into quarters (triangles or rectangles).
  6. Chill for 15 minutes before serving for cleaner cuts and firmer filling.

Notes

  • Use fresh mandarin oranges if preferred, but ensure they are well-drained to avoid soggy bread.
  • Chilling helps the filling set and makes slicing easier.
  • These sandwiches are best served slightly chilled or at room temperature.
