Instructions
- Prepare Gelatin: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in the 2 packages of orange Jell-O gelatin until fully dissolved.
- Add Sherbet: Stir in 2 cups of orange sherbet into the hot gelatin mixture, mixing well until the sherbet melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
- Whip Cream: In a mixing bowl, whip 8 ounces of heavy cream with 1 tablespoon sugar using a mixer for about 4 minutes, or until the cream thickens and forms soft peaks.
- Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the gelatin and sherbet mixture into the whipped cream until fully blended and smooth, taking care not to deflate the whipped cream too much.
- Chill: Pour the combined mixture into a 2-quart Pyrex dish. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the salad is set and well chilled, typically about 3-4 hours.
- Serve: Optional—serve topped with mandarin oranges and a dollop of Reddi Whip whipped cream for added flavor and decoration.
