Description

This Creamy Orange Sherbet Jell-O Salad is a light and refreshing dessert salad featuring a blend of orange Jell-O gelatin, tangy orange sherbet, and fluffy whipped cream. Perfect for a sweet, creamy treat that’s easy to prepare and beautifully chilled.

Ingredients

Scale

Gelatin Base

  • 2 (3 ounce) packages orange Jell-O
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups orange sherbet

Whipped Cream Mixture

  • 8 ounces heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Optional Toppings

  • Mandarin oranges, for serving
  • Reddi Whip whipped dairy cream topping, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare Gelatin: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in the 2 packages of orange Jell-O gelatin until fully dissolved.
  2. Add Sherbet: Stir in 2 cups of orange sherbet into the hot gelatin mixture, mixing well until the sherbet melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Whip Cream: In a mixing bowl, whip 8 ounces of heavy cream with 1 tablespoon sugar using a mixer for about 4 minutes, or until the cream thickens and forms soft peaks.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the gelatin and sherbet mixture into the whipped cream until fully blended and smooth, taking care not to deflate the whipped cream too much.
  5. Chill: Pour the combined mixture into a 2-quart Pyrex dish. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the salad is set and well chilled, typically about 3-4 hours.
  6. Serve: Optional—serve topped with mandarin oranges and a dollop of Reddi Whip whipped cream for added flavor and decoration.

Notes

  • This salad should be refrigerated for several hours to achieve the best set texture.
  • You can substitute lime or other citrus sherbet for a different flavor variation.
  • Gentle folding preserves the airiness of the whipped cream for a light, fluffy salad.
  • Using a clear glass dish highlights the vibrant orange color, making the salad visually appealing.
  • Ideal for summer parties, potlucks, or as a refreshing dessert option.
