Scale
- 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (adjust as needed)
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup cheese of choice (mozzarella, cheddar, etc.), cubed
- Oil or butter, for frying
Instructions
- Boil chopped potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash until smooth.
- Add salt and gradually mix in flour until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- Divide dough into small portions (golf ball size). Flatten each portion in your palm.
- Place a cube of cheese in the center and pinch the dough to seal. Roll into a ball, then flatten slightly into a patty shape.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat with a bit of oil or butter.
- Cook the patties in batches, about 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Serve hot with a dip of your choice or enjoy as-is!
Notes
- Use starchy potatoes like Russets for a fluffier texture.
- Chill the mashed potatoes before forming if the dough feels too sticky.
- Experiment with fillings like seasoned veggies or spiced ground meat for variety.
