Description

These golden, pan-fried potato patties are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a gooey cheese center. Made with mashed potatoes, flour, and cheese, they’re a perfect snack, side dish, or appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 34 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (adjust as needed)
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup cheese of choice (mozzarella, cheddar, etc.), cubed
  • Oil or butter, for frying

Instructions

  1. Boil chopped potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash until smooth.
  2. Add salt and gradually mix in flour until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into small portions (golf ball size). Flatten each portion in your palm.
  4. Place a cube of cheese in the center and pinch the dough to seal. Roll into a ball, then flatten slightly into a patty shape.
  5. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat with a bit of oil or butter.
  6. Cook the patties in batches, about 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp.
  7. Serve hot with a dip of your choice or enjoy as-is!

Notes

  • Use starchy potatoes like Russets for a fluffier texture.
  • Chill the mashed potatoes before forming if the dough feels too sticky.
  • Experiment with fillings like seasoned veggies or spiced ground meat for variety.
