Pork:
- 3 lbs pork shoulder (pork butt)
Spice Rub:
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Sauce:
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
Instructions
- Prepare Spice Rub: In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, brown sugar, and cayenne if using.
- Cover Pork: Rub spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- Set Up Crockpot: Place pork in crockpot. Add barbecue sauce and chicken broth.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until pork is tender and shreds easily.
- Shred and Serve: Remove pork, shred with two forks, and return to crockpot to mix with sauce. Serve warm.
