Description

Pork:

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder (pork butt)

Spice Rub:

  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Sauce:

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Prepare Spice Rub: In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, brown sugar, and cayenne if using.
  2. Cover Pork: Rub spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  3. Set Up Crockpot: Place pork in crockpot. Add barbecue sauce and chicken broth.
  4. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until pork is tender and shreds easily.
  5. Shred and Serve: Remove pork, shred with two forks, and return to crockpot to mix with sauce. Serve warm.
