Description

This moist and naturally sweetened cake is packed with tender apple slices, chewy dates, and crunchy walnuts. Lightly spiced and dusted with powdered sugar, it’s a wholesome dessert perfect for tea time or a cozy fall gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 large apple, peeled and diced
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or bundt pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla.
  4. Stir in the yogurt and milk until smooth. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped dates, apples, and walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
