Description

A fun, indulgent twist on classic fair food, these deep-fried bacon cheeseburger corn dogs combine juicy hot dogs, melty cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and seasoned beef—wrapped in a golden cornmeal batter and fried to perfection. Ideal for parties or game day snacks!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 beef hot dogs
  • 1/2 lb ground beef, seasoned and cooked
  • 6 cheddar cheese sticks or slices
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard (optional, for batter flavor)
  • Wooden skewers
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Insert skewers into each hot dog.
  2. Slit each hot dog down the middle lengthwise (not all the way through) and stuff with cheddar cheese and a spoonful of seasoned cooked beef. Press gently to seal.
  3. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon and gently press it into the meat and cheese.
  4. Freeze hot dogs for 15–20 minutes to help them hold together.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  6. In another bowl, whisk egg, buttermilk, and mustard. Combine wet and dry ingredients to make a thick batter.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Dip chilled hot dogs into the batter, coating completely.
  9. Fry 1–2 at a time until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes.
  10. Drain on paper towels and serve with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Freezing the stuffed hot dogs helps them keep their shape during frying.
  • Use sharp cheddar for extra flavor contrast.
  • Customize with pickles or jalapeños inside for added zing.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and taste.
