Puff Pastry:
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
Cheese Filling:
- 225 g cream cheese, softened
- 100 g shredded sharp cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack
- 60 g sliced jalapenos, fresh or pickled
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Additional:
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Dipping sauces as needed (such as ranch, sriracha mayo, or honey mustard)
Instructions
- Prepare Oven and Baking Sheet: Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Cheese Filling: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, sliced jalapenos, and garlic powder. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Shape Puff Pastry: Roll out thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 6 mm. Cut into strips approximately 5 cm wide.
- Fill and Twist Pastry Strips: Place a generous spoonful of cheese filling onto one half of each pastry strip. Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling, then gently twist each strip to form a spiral.
- Apply Egg Wash: Arrange the twists on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg to promote even browning.
- Bake Until Golden: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until twists are puffed and golden brown.
- Serve with Dipping Sauces: Allow to cool slightly before serving. Present with your choice of dipping sauces.
