Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
- 2 cups warm milk (110°F)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4–5 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined, creating a flavorful garlic butter spread.
- Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12×18 inch rectangle. Spread the garlic butter filling evenly over the surface. Carefully roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Second Rise: Arrange the roll slices cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy and slightly risen.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Allow them to cool slightly before serving to enjoy optimal flavor and texture.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding grated cheese to the filling before rolling.
- These rolls are best served warm and fresh but can be stored at room temperature for up to two days.
