Description

These Garlic Swirl Rolls are soft, fluffy homemade bread rolls with a delicious garlic butter filling. Perfectly golden and flavorful, they make an impressive side to any meal or a tasty snack on their own.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 45 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  3. Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined, creating a flavorful garlic butter spread.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12×18 inch rectangle. Spread the garlic butter filling evenly over the surface. Carefully roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  5. Second Rise: Arrange the roll slices cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy and slightly risen.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Allow them to cool slightly before serving to enjoy optimal flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding grated cheese to the filling before rolling.
  • These rolls are best served warm and fresh but can be stored at room temperature for up to two days.
