Description

Indulge in the flavors of the Hawaiian islands with this delectable Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp recipe. Succulent shrimp coated in a savory garlic butter sauce, served over a bed of fluffy white rice, reminiscent of the culinary delights found on the North Shore of Oahu.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil or neutral oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish
  • Steamed white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: In a bowl, combine flour, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss the shrimp in the mixture until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until lightly browned and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat and melt butter. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant and golden, about 1 minute.
  4. Combine and Serve: Return shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat with the garlic butter. Add lemon juice and stir well. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot over a bed of steamed rice.
