Scale
- For the Garlic Bread:
- 1 large loaf French bread, halved
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- For the Spaghetti Meat Sauce:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked spaghetti noodles (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a bowl, mix softened butter with garlic powder, oregano, parsley, salt, and Parmesan if using.
- Spread butter mixture evenly over both halves of the French bread. Place on a sheet pan and bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and crispy. Slice and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes until thickened.
- Serve the meat sauce as a dip with garlic bread or ladle over cooked spaghetti noodles for a full meal.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic in the butter for a more intense flavor.
- Make the sauce in advance—it stores well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Swap beef with turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter option.
- Top garlic bread with mozzarella and broil for a cheesy variation.
