Description

Soft, fluffy, and lightly sweet dinner rolls with a hint of pineapple—these homemade Hawaiian rolls are perfect for sliders, holiday meals, or everyday snacking.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the rolls:

  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup milk (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt

For brushing:

  • Additional melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in pineapple juice, milk, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and egg. Mix until well combined.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, kneading for 6–8 minutes until a soft, slightly tacky dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl and let dough rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes until puffy.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown on top.
  8. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter while warm. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, make sure all ingredients are at room temperature.
  • You can freeze these rolls for later use; just reheat before serving.
