Description

Sweet, chewy, and packed with nostalgic bubblegum flavor, these homemade pink bubble gum balls are fun to make and even more fun to chew. Coated in fine sugar crystals and shaped into perfect spheres, they’re a charming treat with a soft pastel hue and classic candy-shop appeal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/3 cup gum base pellets
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (plus extra for dusting)
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp citric acid (optional, for tang)
  • 1/2 tsp bubble gum flavoring
  • Pink gel food coloring (a drop or two)
  • Granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a heatproof bowl over a saucepan with simmering water (double boiler style), melt the gum base and corn syrup together until smooth and melted.
  2. Remove from heat and quickly stir in powdered sugar, bubble gum flavoring, citric acid (if using), and food coloring.
  3. Knead the mixture carefully (it will be hot) with a spatula or gloved hands until it becomes pliable like dough.
  4. Add more powdered sugar as needed to keep it from sticking.
  5. Once it’s cool enough to handle, roll small pieces into 1-inch balls.
  6. Roll each ball in granulated sugar to coat evenly and prevent sticking.
  7. Let the gum balls cool completely on a parchment-lined tray before storing in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use gloves while kneading to avoid burns and sticking.
  • Cornstarch can also be used to prevent sticking if preferred over sugar.
  • Store gum balls in a cool, dry place for best texture.
