Description
A golden, flaky crust encasing tender cinnamon-spiced apples and sweet caramelized filling. This traditional apple pie is comforting, buttery, and perfect warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

For the Filling:
- 6 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small cubes
For the Crust:
- 1 double pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
- Cover with the second crust, trim the excess, and crimp edges.
- Brush the top crust with the egg wash.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then reduce the heat to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 35–40 minutes or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling.
- Let cool for at least 2 hours before slicing.
In a large bowl, toss the apples with sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
Fill the crust with the apple mixture and dot with butter cubes.
Cut a few small slits in the top crust to vent.
