A rich and indulgent twist on classic French toast, this Hong Kong-style version features thick slices of bread stuffed with peanut butter, deep-fried until golden, and drenched in sweetened condensed milk with a melting pat of butter on top. A café favorite in under 10 minutes!

Bread:
- 2 thick slices white bread (milk bread or brioche preferred)
Peanut Butter Mix:
- 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (or custard spread)
Egg Mixture:
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Frying and Topping:
- Butter, for frying
- 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk (for drizzle)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for topping)
Instructions
- Spread peanut butter evenly between the two slices of bread to form a sandwich. Spread the filling evenly.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Ensure the mixture is well combined.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat with a knob of butter. Preheat the pan.
- Dip the sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides well. Ensure both sides are coated.
- Fry in the pan until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 2–3 minutes per side. Cook until golden and crispy.
- Remove and place on a plate. Immediately top with a pat of butter and drizzle generously with sweetened condensed milk. Serve hot.

- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of condensed milk.
