Description

A quick and flavorful Korean-inspired dish made with savory-sweet ground beef, garlic, soy sauce, and spices, served over steamed white rice and topped with scallions and sesame seeds.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 minute.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the beef.
  4. Taste and season with salt and pepper if needed.
  5. Serve the beef mixture hot over bowls of steamed white rice.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to minimize excess fat.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control spice level.
  • Try with brown rice or cauliflower rice for a lighter option.
