Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • For serving:
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup berry jam or puree (e.g., strawberry or raspberry)
  • Optional: powdered sugar or fresh berries for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine cottage cheese, egg, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  2. Gradually add flour and mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  3. Dust a surface with flour. Roll the dough into ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces. Lightly press each with a fork.
  4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add dumplings in batches and cook until they float (about 2–3 minutes). Remove with a slotted spoon.
  5. Serve warm, topped with sour cream or yogurt and berry jam. Garnish with powdered sugar or fresh berries if desired.

Notes

  • Drain cottage cheese well to avoid overly wet dough.
  • Ricotta can be used as a substitute for farmer’s cheese.
