Description

Indulge in the creamy goodness of Mahalabia, a traditional Middle Eastern milk pudding flavored with fragrant orange blossom water. This easy-to-make dessert requires just four simple ingredients and is perfect for satisfying your sweet cravings in no time.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Mahalabia:

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 7 tablespoons corn starch OR 12 tablespoons rice flour
  • 3/4 cups sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup whipping cream (optional, can be substituted with milk)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cardamom OR 1 tablespoon orange blossom water OR 1 tablespoon rose water

For Garnish:

  • Pistachios, shredded coconut, raisins, or any preferred nuts

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a pot, combine whole milk, cream, sugar, and corn starch/rice flour. Whisk until well dissolved.
  2. Cook: Place the pot on medium heat and whisk continuously for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  3. Thicken: Reduce heat to low and continue whisking until the mixture reaches a pudding consistency.
  4. Add Flavor: Remove from heat and stir in your chosen flavoring – cardamom, orange blossom water, or rose water.
  5. Chill: Transfer the pudding into small dessert cups and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, top with nuts, coconut, raisins, or other preferred garnishes.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, use corn starch; for a textured variation, opt for rice flour.
