Description

An ultra-moist, sky-high banana pound cake layered with rich banana pudding cream, covered in whipped topping, and crowned with crushed vanilla wafers and banana slices—decadent, nostalgic, and absolutely unforgettable.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant banana pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped
  • 2 cups whipped topping (Cool Whip or stabilized whipped cream)
  • 1/2 cup crushed vanilla wafers
  • Whole vanilla wafers, for garnish
  • Fresh banana slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a tall tube or bundt pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs, one at a time.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine milk and vanilla.
  6. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to the batter, mixing well.
  7. Stir in mashed bananas until smooth.
  8. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 75–85 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely before decorating.
  10. Prepare pudding by whisking pudding mix, milk, and sweetened condensed milk until thick. Fold in whipped cream.
  11. Once the cake is cool, frost with whipped topping and add a thick layer of banana pudding cream.
  12. Sprinkle with crushed vanilla wafers and top with whole wafers and banana slices.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cool before adding pudding and toppings to prevent melting.
  • For best presentation, assemble shortly before serving to avoid banana browning.
  • Use ripe bananas for optimal flavor and moisture.
  • Chill the pudding layer slightly before applying for a firmer consistency.
