Description

These golden, homemade croissants are filled with luscious Nutella and baked until fluffy and light, with a shiny egg wash and a sprinkling of sesame seeds. Perfect for breakfast, tea time, or a sweet snack with just the right hint of nuttiness.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 3 tbsp warm milk
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 large egg

Filling and Topping:

  • 1/2 cup Nutella (or other chocolate hazelnut spread)
  • 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, warm water, oil, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead Dough: Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat & Shape: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Roll dough into a large circle. Cut into 8 triangles like a pizza.
  6. Fill & Bake: Place a teaspoon of Nutella on the wide end of each triangle and roll up toward the point to form a croissant shape. Arrange on baking tray. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Serve: Let cool slightly and serve warm.
