Description

A cozy and hearty breakfast bake combining fluffy pancake layers, savory chicken sausage, cheddar cheese, and a touch of maple syrup for sweet-savory balance.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups pancake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 lb chicken sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together pancake mix, milk, egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup until smooth.
  3. Pour half the batter into the prepared dish and spread evenly.
  4. Layer with half of the crumbled sausage and half the cheddar cheese.
  5. Pour the remaining batter on top, then add the rest of the sausage and cheese.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cool slightly, then slice and serve with extra maple syrup if desired.

Notes

  • Use fully cooked chicken sausage for best results.
  • Swap in turkey or pork sausage if preferred.
  • Can be prepped the night before and baked in the morning.
