Description

A comforting baked dessert made with tender cubes of bread and juicy peaches soaked in a cinnamon-spiced custard. This golden peach bread pudding is a warm and satisfying treat perfect for any season.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups cubed day-old bread (brioche or challah preferred)
  • 2 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups milk (or half and half for richer texture)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Butter for greasing
  • Optional: powdered sugar or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Spread the cubed bread and sliced peaches evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and peaches. Let sit for 10–15 minutes to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
  5. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or top with whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale bread to better absorb the custard mixture.
  • Try substituting nectarines or plums for a variation in flavor.
  • Serve warm with ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
