Description

Delightful Sweetened Condensed Milk Snowballs that are buttery, soft, and melt in your mouth. These easy-to-make cookies are lightly dusted with confectioners’ sugar for a festive, snowball-like appearance, perfect for holiday treats or anytime you crave a sweet, tender bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder

Topping

  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream the Butter: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until it becomes light and fluffy, usually about 3 minutes, to create a smooth base for the dough.
  2. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk: Gradually incorporate the sweetened condensed milk into the butter, beating continuously for 2 minutes until fully combined. If using flavor extract, add it now, ensuring it doesn’t exceed 2 teaspoons.
  3. Scrape and Mix: Scrape down the sides of the bowl and beat the mixture for another 1-2 minutes to achieve a smooth, even consistency.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: Add the all-purpose flour and baking powder to the wet mixture and beat just until incorporated. If adding any mix-ins like chocolate chips or dried cranberries, fold them in gently at this point.
  5. Shape the Cookies: Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough into evenly sized mounds. Place each mound on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for slight spreading.
  6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 320°F (160°C) and bake the cookies for 12 minutes until they are lightly golden but still soft.
  7. Cool on the Pan: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool for 5 minutes directly on the pan to set their shape.
  8. Transfer and Dust: Carefully move the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, sift a generous amount of confectioners’ sugar over the cookies for a snowy, festive look.
  9. Cool Completely: Allow the cookies to cool entirely before storing them in an airtight container to maintain freshness and texture.

Notes

  • Optional mix-ins such as chocolate chips, dried cranberries, or candies can be folded into the dough (up to 1 cup).
  • If desired, add up to 2 teaspoons of flavor extract (vanilla, almond, or coconut) with the sweetened condensed milk for added flavor.
  • Ensure cookies cool completely before storage to prevent sogginess.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
