Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Dough
- 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (90g) powdered sugar
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, which usually takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Add vanilla and flour: Gradually add the vanilla extract to the butter mixture, then slowly mix in the all-purpose flour until the dough comes together with no dry spots.
- Shape the cookies: Using a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle or simply shaping by hand, form the cookie dough into desired shapes or small rounds and place them evenly spaced on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake the cookies: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the cookies for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges turn a light golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy them plain or with a cup of tea or coffee.
Notes
- Ensure butter is softened to room temperature for easy creaming and a smooth dough.
- Do not overmix the dough once flour is added to avoid tough cookies.
- Cookies can be piped into traditional Danish shapes or formed into rounds as preferred.
- Storage: Keep cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
- For a festive touch, consider decorating with colored sugar or chocolate drizzle once cooled.
