Description

La tarte au thon, also known as the tuna tart, is a delicious and savory French pastry dish that combines the rich flavors of tuna, cheese, and tomatoes on a flaky puff pastry base. This easy-to-make tart is perfect for a casual lunch or dinner.

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 ready rolled puff pastry

Mustard Mixture:

  • 2 tbsp wholegrain mustard

Filling:

  • 150g half fat crème fraîche
  • 200g canned tuna in spring water (drained weight 150g)
  • 50g grated emmental cheese

Tomato Topping:

  • 2 large tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180ºC.
  2. Prepare the Pastry: Place the puff pastry on a baking paper in a tin, and prick the base with a fork.
  3. Add Mustard: Spread the wholegrain mustard over the pastry case.
  4. Make the Filling: Mix crème fraîche, tuna, and cheese in a bowl, then pour into the pastry case.
  5. Add Tomatoes: Thinly slice the tomatoes and arrange them over the filling.
  6. Bake: Bake for 35 minutes until the pastry is golden and firm. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some herbs like thyme or oregano over the tart before baking.
  • This tart pairs well with a side salad dressed with a light vinaigrette.
