Instructions

  1. Proof the Yeast: Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water with a tablespoon of sugar until foamy, about 5 minutes. Add oil, eggs, remaining sugar, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour to make a soft dough.
  2. Rise the Dough: Let the dough rise for an hour, punch down, rise again for 30 minutes.
  3. Braid the Challah: Divide dough, roll into strands, braid, shape into loaves.
