Description

These Churro Waffles with Cinnamon Sugar are a delightful twist on a classic breakfast favorite. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar topping, they are sure to be a hit with your family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale

Batter:

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 shakes of cinnamon

Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup cinnamon (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter – In a large mixing bowl, combine the salt, baking powder, white sugar, and cinnamon. Beat in the eggs, then add the warm milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour until you achieve a smooth batter with no lumps.
  2. Preheat Waffle Iron – Heat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure it is hot and ready for cooking.
  3. Cook the Waffles – Grease the waffle iron lightly with butter or non-stick spray. Pour batter onto the center of the waffle iron, spreading slightly if needed. Close the lid and cook until golden brown and crispy, usually about 4-6 minutes depending on your waffle iron.
  4. Mix the Cinnamon Sugar Topping – In a shallow bowl, combine the white sugar with 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup cinnamon based on your preference for cinnamon intensity.
  5. Apply the Topping – Immediately after removing the waffle from the iron, brush the warm waffle generously with melted butter on all sides. Then, dredge or sprinkle the waffle thoroughly with the cinnamon sugar mixture so it sticks well to the butter-coated surface.
  6. Serve and Enjoy – Serve the churro waffles warm for maximum flavor and crispness. Optionally, add toppings like whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or fresh fruit as desired.
