For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 white onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
For the Cheese Mixture:
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Other:
- 12 lasagna noodles
Instructions
- Brown the beef: In a large skillet, brown the beef with onion and garlic.
- Add sauce: Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning; simmer for 15 minutes.
- Prepare cheese mixture: In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, and half the parmesan.
- Cook noodles: Cook noodles al dente and drain.
- Layer: In a 9×13 dish, layer sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, ending with meat sauce and mozzarella.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until bubbly.

- For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with plant-based crumbles.
- This lasagna freezes well; consider making a double batch and freezing one for later.
