  • 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)

For the Meat Sauce:

  • ½ pound lean ground beef
  • ½ pound Italian sausage
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 36 ounces pasta sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Cheese Mixture:

  • 2 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese or cottage cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Cook Noodles: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare Meat Sauce: Brown beef, sausage, onion, and garlic in a skillet. Add pasta sauce, tomato paste, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Make Cheese Mixture: Combine 1 ½ cups mozzarella, ¼ cup Parmesan, ricotta, parsley, egg, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Assemble Lasagna: Layer meat sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and repeat. Top with remaining sauce.
  5. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover, add remaining mozzarella and Parmesan, bake until bubbly. Broil for a golden top.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before serving.
