For the Lasagna:
- 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
For the Meat Sauce:
- ½ pound lean ground beef
- ½ pound Italian sausage
- 1 yellow onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 36 ounces pasta sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
For the Cheese Mixture:
- 2 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese (divided)
- 2 cups ricotta cheese or cottage cheese
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Cook Noodles: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare Meat Sauce: Brown beef, sausage, onion, and garlic in a skillet. Add pasta sauce, tomato paste, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Make Cheese Mixture: Combine 1 ½ cups mozzarella, ¼ cup Parmesan, ricotta, parsley, egg, and salt in a bowl.
- Assemble Lasagna: Layer meat sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and repeat. Top with remaining sauce.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover, add remaining mozzarella and Parmesan, bake until bubbly. Broil for a golden top.
- Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before serving.

- You can customize the meat in the sauce by using all beef, all sausage, or adding ground turkey.
