Coconut Frosting:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup light brown sugar (packed)
- ¾ cup butter (room temperature)
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 ¼ cup evaporated milk
- 1 ½ cup shredded sweetened coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Chocolate Frosting:
- ½ cup butter (room temperature)
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- â…“ cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Chocolate Cake Preheat the oven and prepare pans. Mix dry ingredients. Combine sugars and eggs. Add oil, sour cream, vanilla, and cocoa. Alternate dry ingredients and milk. Mix in boiling water. Divide batter and bake. Cool.
- Coconut Frosting Cook sugars, butter, yolks, and milk. Add coconut and pecans. Cool.
- Chocolate Frosting Cream butter and cocoa. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Mix until fluffy.
- Assembling the Cake Place a cake layer, frost, add coconut frosting, second layer, frost sides and top with chocolate frosting, and chill.
