Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or any day with this moist and delicious Irish Soda Bread recipe passed down from my Great Grandmother. Perfect for tea time or as a side to a hearty stew!

Dry Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 TB baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
Additional Ingredients:
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 TB caraway seeds
- 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 4 TB melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Coat pans with melted butter or oil and dust with flour.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
- Add Raisins and Seeds: Stir in raisins and caraway seeds using a fork.
- Blend Wet Ingredients: Mix in buttermilk and melted butter until evenly moistened.
- Bake: Transfer the dough into the pan(s), cut an X on top, and bake until a knife inserted comes out clean.
Notes
- You can customize this bread by adding nuts or different dried fruits.
- For a savory twist, omit the sugar and add herbs like rosemary or thyme.
