This Spicy Joanna Gaines Shrimp Boil recipe is a flavorful and satisfying dish that brings together a mix of shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn in a spicy broth. Perfect for a casual gathering or a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
Broth:
- 4 cups water
- 1 onion (cut into 1-inch thick wedges)
- 1.5 bulbs garlic (halved crosswise to release flavor)
- 3/4 cup old bay seasoning
- 2.5 tbsp thyme
Boil:
- 1.5 lb red potatoes (halved or quartered into 1.5-inch pieces)
- Salt
- 4 ears corn (husked and snapped into 3-inch pieces)
- 14 oz andouille sausage (sliced into 1-inch thick rounds)
- 1.5 lb shrimp (I use Home Market frozen deveined shrimp)
Finish:
- 8 tbsp butter (I prefer Kerrygold unsalted butter for this)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp parsley
- Black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Broth: In a large pot, combine water, onion, garlic, old bay seasoning, and thyme. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 10-15 minutes to infuse flavors.
- Boil the Ingredients: Add potatoes to the broth and season with salt. Cook for about 10 minutes, then add corn, sausage, and shrimp. Cook until potatoes are tender and shrimp turn pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Finish and Serve: Stir in butter, lemon juice, parsley, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
Notes
- You can customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of cayenne pepper used.
- Feel free to add other seafood like crab legs or mussels for a deluxe version of this boil.
